Hyundai Motor Co. said Tuesday that more than 4,000 orders have been made for the latest edition of the Tucson SUV since South Korea's leading carmaker began receiving preorders last week.
A total of 4,200 units of the all-new Tucson were sold via early orders as of Monday, just four business days after Hyundai opened preorders for the new model, according to the carmaker.
The number is more than twice the sales figure for its previous version last month, which stood at 1,751 units, the company said.
First unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show, the new Tucson SUV packs the company's new seven-speed double clutch transmission, along with diverse safety features that include autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection and a smart parking assist system.
Official sales will start here later this month, while its debuts in the U.S. and European markets are slated for the second half of the year, according to Hyundai. (Yonhap)
