Ssangyong Motor Co., the local unit of Indian auto conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said Monday that its sales jumped 18.4 percent on-year in December as soaring sales at home more than offset slumping exports.
Ssangyong Motor sold 15,116 units last month, compared with 12,764 units a year earlier, the company said in a press release.
The figure does not include complete knockdown kits that are assembled abroad.
Overseas shipments nosedived 16.4 percent to 3,765 units over the cited period. On its home turf, sales surged 37.4 percent on-year to 11,351 units due mainly to the continued popularity of its Tivoli crossover SUV.
Ssangyong Motor said that it sold 144,541 units for 2015, up 3.3 percent from a year earlier
