Hyundai Motor Co. saw its market share in Brazil, Russia and other emerging markets grow in August from a year earlier, industry data showed Monday, raising hopes that demand might be recovering from a protracted slump.
According to the data made available by each country, Hyundai Motor sold a combined 72,302 cars in four emerging markets -- Brazil, Russia, India and Mexico. The sales are up 8.1 percent from a year earlier.
Hyundai Motor’s car sales accounted for 10.8 percent of the
672,254 cars sold in the four countries in the cited month, up from the 9 percent tallied a year earlier, the data showed.
The brisk sales in those countries were mainly driven by strong demand for car models such as the Solaris, the Creta and the HB20, which were designed to target local customers.
In particular, Solaris sales in Russia came to 1,581 units in August, the largest of the car models sold in the country. The Creta also ranked first in India‘s SUV market with its August sales reaching 7,434 units. (Yonhap)
